Frequently Asked Questions

How many weddings/elopements do you take per year?

Honestly, this changes year to year. It's important to me to offer my clients an incredible experience & that they feel loved. It's also important that I take care of myself & my family. I've always believed that this job is not about how much you do, but how you do it. Because of those values, I strategically plan what my year will look like. I am currently accepting 10-12 weddings/elopements in the year 2024.

Do you shoot anything other than weddings/elopements/couples?

Yes, I do take non-wedding/elopement/couple portrait sessions throughout the year depending on my availability. You can click here to contact me about them!

If you need something that I don't offer, please feel free to ask me for recommendations!

How long have you been a photographer?

I was 14 the first time I picked up a digital camera, but I didn't pick up my first DSLR camera until 2012 & haven't been able to put it down since then.

Where are you located & do you travel?

Right now, I am currently based out of Birmingham, Alabama, but I do travel. I'm always down to road-trip or hop on a plane to come adventure with you. If your session/elopement/wedding is out-of-state or out-of-country, charge a travel fee. Be sure to check out my travel dates to see if I'll be headed somewhere near you!

How do I book?

Go to my "Contact" page & tell me about yourself! That way we can connect, chat details, & I can send you over any info you need!

How far in advance do I need to book?

If I have the spot open, it's totally yours!

I’ve had bookings as far out as two years and as close as a week.

Do you help in the planning process?

After being in the wedding industry for almost a decade, I've learned so much about the ins & outs of planning elopements & weddings. That's one of the largest reasons that I offer help with planning in my elopement & wedding packages. Talking out details, bringing focus to the things that matter to you, picking out/scouting a location or venue + permits & requirements, finding ways to make this experience unique to you, connecting to or connecting you with other vendors, creating a timeline, making space for you to soak up your day, figuring out lighting & weather, knowing what to pack/prep for on your day, and SO much more! When I say that I'm on your team - I really mean that.⁣

Another reason for that is because I've also been a bride. I know how much stress can accompany planning your day & what a joy it is to have vendors on your side that help you navigate through it all. I know the importance of hiring people you love & trust - so that you can truly live in the moment & make your memories.⁣

You absolutely deserve that kind of experience. You deserve vendors who truly value you.⁣

We are awkward. How do you deal with that?

It's totally normal, understandable, and valid to feel this way. You don't have anything to worry about. My sessions are super conversational & it's pretty much like we are just hanging out. There is no pressure to do anything other than be yourself.

How do you go about choosing a location for our session?

Your location might be a place that's familiar to you or it might be somewhere you've never been before. What is important is that it means something to you & you are excited to be there. We can work together to make that happen.

Here's a good read about picking locations (it's about elopements, but the advice is not exclusive to them).

What should we wear to our session?

I'll send you over a guide/tips on what to wear, friend! No worries.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Depending on the forecast, I usually suggest embracing it. Typically, the best time to check the forecast is about 48 hours before your session. Provided that the weather is not severe/harsh conditions/an absolute downpour, we can go with the flow & make the most of our adventure. Sometimes the unexpected makes for the most beautiful images. Plus I know that rescheduling may not always be an option. If you do have the flexibility to reschedule your session & feel like it would make your experience more special when the weather is better, we can do that too (at no cost).

For weddings & elopements, I know that embracing the weather is really the only option you have. Talk to your vendors about a backup plan & what that might look like for your day in the case that you need one.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Weddings & Elopements:

90 Days Prior to Event | If you have already put a deposit down for your date and have to reschedule/cancel 90 days or more before your event, the deposit is legally non-refundable but will be applied to a mutally agreed upon date + a resceduling fee.

Less Than 90 Days Prior Event| If you have already put a deposit down for your date and have to reschedule/cancel less than 90 days before your event, the deposit is legally non-refundable & you will be required to start the booking process over. A new deposit will have to be made to reserve your new date.

Sessions

72 Hours Prior to Session | If you have already put a deposit down for your date and have to reschedule/cancel 72 hours or more before your session, the deposit is legally non-refundable but will be applied to a mutally agreed upon date + a resceduling fee.

Less Than 72 Hours Prior to Session | If you have already put a deposit down for your date and have to reschedule/cancel less than 72 hour before your session, the deposit is legally non-refundable & you will be required to start the booking process over. A new deposit will have to be made to reserve your new date.

Note on Sessions

If I personally recommend that you reschedule for any reason (weather, etc.), it will be of no charge to you. Your deposit will be applied to a mutually agreed upon date.

What happens if you can't make it to our wedding?

I pray that this NEVER happens, but in the case that something out of my control were to happen (illness, death, act of God, etc), I would do my best to secure another photographer that I trust & whose work you love. If I can't make it to your wedding or secure another photographer, your money will be refunded in full.

Can you photoshop us?

One of the most important things to me is capturing you guys the way that you are, honestly & authentically. You can read more about this here.

When will we receive our images?

4-6 weeks for 1 hr sessions

6-8 weeks for 2 hr sessions

8-10 weeks for elopements/weddings

What matters to me is making sure that I give myself the time & space to create something really beautiful for you.

How do we receive our photos?

All of your edited, high-resolution digital images will be hosted in your personal online gallery, available for you to download & then print anywhere you'd like!

How many images do you deliver?

Portrait sessions usually yield 50-100 images, and elopements/weddings 500-1000.

Every session and elopement/wedding is different. I don't really have a cap for the amount of images I deliver & I always deliver more than promised.

Do you offer albums of our photos?

No, but consider checking out Artifact Uprising, Red Tree, or Kiss Books for some beautiful albums.

Do you offer professional prints of our photos?

I am currently not in the loop for printing. However, when you sign your contract, it also includes a print release so that you may choose any lab of your liking.

Tip: Do not add any color correction to your photos when having them printed. This can add unwanted contrast & saturation to your photos.

Where are some places you recommend for purchasing prints?

Artifact Uprising, Mpix, WHCC, Nations, Millers, Bay Photo, Shutterfly, Snapfish, & Smallwoods Home.

If you're not sure who to go with, you can always sample by having a few photos printed & comparing them before placing a large order.

Can I post my photos on social media?

Absolutely! I just ask that you don't edit or add any filters to them. And of course I am so appreciative when you tag/credit me when you post. It's like adding a signature to my work. AND, when you tag your photographer (and other vendors), that helps potential clients connect to us.
